High House Is Now a Certified B Corporation™
We have something we have been quietly working towards for two years, and today we get to share it. We are proud to announce that High House is now a Certified B Corporation™- independently verified by B Lab against one of the most rigorous standards in business.
This milestone reflects the collective effort of our entire team, from planners and front-of-house to kitchen, gardeners, cleaners and the suppliers we work with every day. It is, hands down, the proudest milestone we have stamped on the venue this year.
What this means
Certified B Corporations™ are businesses verified by B Lab as meeting standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. It is one of the most rigorous independent certifications in business, and we have spent two years preparing for it.
The process looks closely at how a business operates across five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. Every claim has to be evidenced. Every number has to stand up. It is a detailed and rigorous assessment, designed to understand how decisions are made and how a business creates impact over time.
For us, it was an opportunity to step back and examine the choices behind the day-to-day running of a wedding venue, and to understand where we are doing well and where we still have work to do.
Certification requires a verified score of 80 or above. The median for businesses completing the assessment is 50.9. We were verified at 90.5 - a result we are genuinely proud of, and one that reflects the standards we have always wanted High House to be held to.
What matters most to us
There are many parts of the assessment we could talk about, but what matters most are the decisions that shape the experience of working at and celebrating at High House.
A team that feels supported
We have long believed that the people behind each wedding should feel supported and valued. That includes being an accredited Real Living Wage employer, a standard held by fewer than 0.4% of UK hospitality businesses, and building rotas 6 weeks in advance, so our team has clarity around their time.
These choices help create consistency for couples planning their weddings, as well as a working environment where people want to stay and grow.

A supplier network built on trust
Our recommended suppliers are independent businesses we know well. Many are based close to the venue, and each has built their place on our list through experience and trust.
That trust is not a small thing. This approach supports local businesses and helps ensure a level of care and familiarity that carries through each wedding day.
Food shaped by the seasons
Our menus are influenced by what is available locally and seasonally, with a significant proportion of fresh produce sourced from within a 30-mile radius.
This shapes how our kitchen plans and evolves menus across the year, creating a dining experience that reflects the time and place of each celebration.
A considered approach to resources
Running a wedding venue involves energy, water and materials. We aim to manage these resources responsibly while maintaining the experience couples expect.
Across the venue, this includes practical steps such as low-flow fixtures, rainwater harvesting and carefully managed irrigation systems. We now monitor water usage per wedding and have set a 2026 target to reduce this to below 35,000 litres per event, saving 750,000l per year. A small commitment on paper, a meaningful one in practice
Alongside this, we continue to review energy supply and waste management in line with our wider approach to operating responsibly.
These are not the things a couple notices when they walk down the aisle. They are not in the photographer's shots. But they are the difference between caring about a place and properly looking after it.
Part of something bigger
Becoming a Certified B Corporation™ places High House among a community of ambitious businesses working towards a more inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy. It is a community we are excited to be a part of, and one we intend to play our role in actively
It is not an endpoint. The certification provides a framework for ongoing improvement, and we will continue to review and develop how we operate across all areas of the business.
A thank you
This milestone reflects the people who make High House what it is - the team who show up each day, the suppliers who share our values, and the couples who trust us with their weddings.
We’re always striving to make every experience here meaningful, and we hope that is something you feel when you spend time with us. Much of this sits in the quieter detail, in the way High House is run day to day.
And if you’d like to experience High House in person, we’d be delighted to welcome you for a private viewing.
